* Scattered Threads, our quilting bee, meets after each meeting. All guild members are invited to bring and work on their own projects; hand and machine work are both welcome. Participating at Scattered Threads is a chance to learn more about each other and discover different quilting techniques such as embroidery, English paper piecing, wool applique, hand piecing and hand quilting.

As many groups are being encouraged to cancel their gatherings the board considered whether or not, out of an abundance of caution, to cancel our guild meeting on Monday. The consensus was that it was better safe than sorry, so we will not meet Monday, March 16th.

Time to reveal the Challenge Quilts 2020. Participating members will introduce their creation of a one-patch design to the group. Quilts do not have to be finished at this date, but must show enough of the final design. All members are welcome to help decide if each quilt meets the criteria.
These quilts will be on exhibit at the upcoming quilt show.

Walk on the Wool Side, A Vickie Clontz lecture
Powerpoint program/lecture with a concentration on how to use wool in quilting and sewing projects, from traditional blanket-stitched applique to needle-felted art quilts. Vickie also brings samples to correspond with the slide show, which serves to inspire attendees to try their hand at using wool in their creative designs. She has patterns, kits, and wool felt for many of the projects . She also brings models from some of the numerous designs she has done for magazines.

Show me the Monet - a Vickie Clontz lecture Meeting is cancelled
Travel through southern France with Vickie and view villages in southern France, the beautiful architecture and art of Paris and learn how these classic elements are interpreted in fabric designs.
French couture fabrics, antique linens and woad dyed textiles will be available for inspiration.

Bonnie Hunter lecture with a trunk show of approx 100 quilts. Bonnie K Hunter is passionate about quilt quilting, focusing mainly on scrap quilts with the simple feeling of “making do”. She started her love affair with quilting in a home economics class her senior year of high school in 1980 and has never looked back.
When not traveling and teaching, she spends her time piecing scrap quilts, enjoying the peaceful reward of English paper piecing and hand quilting as much as machine work, and loving life in her wooded surroundings in beautiful rural Wallburg, North Carolina, A suburb of Winston-Salem.
